The Mediating Effect of Self-Resilience on the Relationships between Entrapment and Mental Health in Grandmothers Who Raise Their Grandchildren

|
The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship among entrapment, mental health, and self-resilience and to identify the mediating effect of self-resilience in relation to entrapment and mental health of grandmothers who raise their grandchildren. Data was collected by questionnaires from a convenience sample of 184 participants taking care of their grandchildren and analyzed using descriptive statistics, correlation analysis and multiple regressions. Entrapment, Mental health, and Self-resilience were correlated significantly. Self-resilience had a significant mediating effect in relation to entrapment and mental health. Further study is necessary to develop effective interventions for managing entrapment and to improve the mental health in this population.
